What's Your Superpower?

We've all got superpowers. They just get buried under the weight of our adult burdens or clouded by the onslaught of environmental toxins, household chemicals, preservatives and additives in our food. The easiest way to tap into your superpowers is to clean up your diet and eliminate harsh chemicals in your households. 

 

Now, I'm not talking about being able to fly or slicing through concrete with laser vision, although I wouldn't discourage you from trying to develop those skills.

 

I'm talking about a heightened intuition, a tuning-in to your inner intelligence, an increase in mental abilities, improved strength, energy, and stamina, as well as a super strong immune system. All of these things are available to you, and when you tap into them it feels pretty damn close to superpowers. Especially when your mind is processing information light speeds ahead of everyone else's and your energy levels are even–keeled all day long. Not to mention sailing through cold and flu season unaffected, and not because you've been washing your hands incessantly all day long, a robust immune system means that your body can combat all the germs you encounter, without so much as a sneeze. 

 

Don't you want that?! I want that for you. 

 

I have been studying the body's reactions to a wide variety of ingestibles for over two decades. I have personally experimented with just about every cleanse on the market, as well as embracing a multitude of dietary lifestyles, and  have followed strict dietary restrictions for long periods of time. I've also witnessed and researched how other people respond to what goes into their bodies. This has allowed me to developed a keen insight into what makes people feel the most empowered in their bodies, and lives.

 

HERE ARE MY KEY DISCOVERIES:

  • Refined sugar, alcohol, and pharmaceuticals, cloud your intuition. They act as veils, dimming your inner light. 

  • There is not one diet that suits all people. When you find the foods that are right for you, you will feel energized, empowered, and clear. Listen to your body, observe how you feel after each meal, find the foods that empower you. 

  • Processed foods with preservatives and/or additives disconnect you from your inner intelligence, preventing you from being able to hear what your body/mind/spirit, needs at any given moment. They dumb you down, disconnecting you from your highest good.

  • Superfoods are the best medicine; boosting your immunity, balancing your energy and capable of providing you with an opportunity for deep physical healing.  

So if you want to experience a heightened intuition, a clear connection to your inner intelligence, and an increase in energy and stamina, look at the foods you're eating.


Are you eating predominately (if not only) simple whole foods? And by whole I mean foods that look the same as they did when they came out of the ground, sea, or sky. If it came out of a box, it's not whole. 


Are you preparing the majority of your meals yourself? That's the only way to know what's truly going into them, not just the ingredients but the actual energy of the person preparing the food, that affects your super powers too.  

 

What chemicals, stimulants, drugs, are you putting into your body? Do you need caffeine to get through the day? Do you need alcohol to wind down at night? Do you need sleeping pills to get to sleep? Perhaps an adjustment can be made here.

 

We are made up of chemicals, a slurry of hormones coursing through our veins at all times, when we interfere with that process by adding external chemicals we interrupt the natural rhythm of our system and create imbalances and discords throughout our bodies. Which in turn affects our emotional and mental wellbeing. 

 

There is nothing wrong with a celebratory drink or two on occasion, and a coffee a day can be ok for some people but for others, it can create major imbalances. 

 

The most important thing is to develop an awareness of what works for you. 

 

The best way to do this is with an elimination diet. Pare everything down to the simplest whole foods for a continuous period of three weeks. Eliminate all processed foods, refined sugar, refined carbohydrates (all processed grains -– no flour of any kind), dairy, alcohol, and caffeine. After three weeks, try adding one of the foods you've eliminated back into your diet for a week, observe how your body responds. If there aren't any adverse reactions try another food for a week, and so on. If you do have a reaction then it'd probably be a good idea to avoid that food, eliminate it from your diet entirely. 

 

Once you've got a grasp on what foods aren't great for you, you can start exploring the foods that really amp you up. Mindfulness is key. Bringing your awareness inside, into the inner workings of your body is essential for developing your superpowers. Think Jedi. You have to look inward to get clarity on what's in your best interest. 

 

You've only got one body to carry you through your life, may as well figure out how to take the best care of it as you can. 

 

Your body really is the key to your overall wellbeing. When it is in balance your mind and emotions also fall into balance, allowing you to feel a greater sense of joy and fulfillment in your life. 

 

It is up to you take control of your physical wellbeing, to tune into the subtle communication of your body's intelligence and navigate yourself towards your best health. It's never too late to start taking better care of yourself.
